My Art My Art Recently I've been getting into DIY patches :)
so far this is just painting designs and phrases onto black cloth, here are all my designs so far
The first patch I made 🥰♀️ it is based off the No Dount song of the same name. I think the lyrics sort of speak to me.
Some patches I made themed after the band Florence and the Machine. the F+TM is something I saw on their website and the other is lyrics from the song Howl
while I added the F+TM patch on my jacket I don't think I'll be using the howl one as it's big and I used the fangs in the Good Girls patch
this patch is inspired by Mel Stone's song Baciami
These 2 patches I made at once. Hope Rides Alone is a chant from the Protomen's debut album the other is just a funny reference to the mega man games that I put on a bra of mine
From the song Light up the Night also from the Protomen. This is probably one of my favorites my only regret is the width is more than my shin lol so it kinda wraps a bit and it's difficult to read on my pants now
My favorite patch so far. This was inspired by Dog Park Dissidents song Bad Dog
So this patch has a sadder back story. I got the idea from someone in my life who said it would be "too confrontational"
This person later revealed his tru colors to me and attacked me for being trans. So really the patch was to spite him, to tell the world I won't be pushed around by men like him.
The actual text is also a reference to the song Keep Quiet
This one is also a bit complicated too lol. This was made for me by my at the time girlfriend for my birthday but we're not together anymore.
I decided to still post it here bc our time together meant alot to me even tho that's over.
It's an abbreviation of "What Would Ethel Cain Do?" who is a trans singer both her and I love.
I got the idea from this from an old political ad from the 1970's that was feminists for the legalization of weed.
Another song reference lol. This one is America Online by the Midnight.
They're a chill band that does somber kind of romantic music that I like to listen to when I want to relax and think about dancing lol.
Ok so this is for the video that I'm still working on lol.
Basically Spotify if you didn't know is terrible for smaller artists basically not paying them for their music. In the video I'm going to explain how you can use an iPod with Last.fm logging to replace your Spotify Wrapped.

"Queer as in Fuck You!" has been a saying from queer punks for a long time now but I also was inspired by another Dog Park Dissidents song called Queer as in Fuck You
The meaning is basically rejecting the notion of the "presentable gay" bc the people that hate us don't differentiate so you should just be yourself and tell bigots to fuck off.
I recently found these shorts and that they fit me again so I decided to start making patches for it bc I wanted some more clothes for this set (plus it's also very hot in the summber here).
The bite me patch is exactly as it sounds lol, the rose is just bc I like them but the symbolism of roses as hope and romance is very appealing and aligns with my ideas.
1312 is bc ACAB obviously, fuck cops.
I'm bisexual lol, I wanted to make something that showed I was so I made this heart by matching the colors with a button that I have. I feel like the pink triangle is alot more politically charged but I felt it a good edition.
If you didn't know the pink triangle was used by nazi's to identify "homosexual men" in the camps. While that is true they also captured and sent alot of trans women to the camps and didn't differentiate between them and the homosexual men.
That's probably not surprising they were horrible and the final denial of their identity before their death was salt in the wound.
What troubles me is many monuments, documentaries and books on the subject parrot that homosexual men claim without acknowledging that trans women were also there.
I personally think this is a dangerous thing, using the same language as the nazi's only serves them and erases us.
The pink triangle was also reclaimed during the AIDS epidemic by organizations like ACT UP, which is also an important part of our history.
Both are excellent reasons I think to have this patch, they're a reminder of our communities pain and survival in dark times, which I think is important now more than ever.
This one is a bit more straight forward honestly lol. It's a call to action that we don't just become our oppressors.
I believe we can live happy fullfilling lives outside the nuclear family illusion pressured onto us by our society. Also policing those in our community for being too weird is only going to divide us, those who would try and erase us don't differentiate so we shouldn't do their job for them bc being respectable isn't going to save you, only community can.
